Three exceptional Dalhousie researchers were included by world-leading data analytics company Clarivate in its annual list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2023. Drs. Noni MacDonald, Rudolf Uher, and Tony Walker were each selected for the authoritative list that includes influential researchers at universities, research institutes and commercial organizations around the world.

“The presence of Drs. MacDonald, Uher, and Walker in this esteemed group of researchers is evidence of the enduring impact and influence of their research and its role in shaping our world,” said Dr. Alice Aiken, Dalhousie’s vice president research and innovation.

Dr. Noni MacDonald, of the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics, is a globally prominent researcher focused on vaccines, including vaccine safety, hesitancy, pain mitigation, education, and policy.

Dr. Rudolf Uher, of the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Psychology is a leading mental health scholar, who studies the interplay of genes and environment in the causation of mental illness to discover early preventative interventions.

Dr. Tony Walker from the Faculty of Science’s School for Resource and Environmental Studies, investigates a wide range of biophysical sciences related to resource and environmental management, including the monitoring, management, and mitigation of plastic, microplastic and industrial contaminant pollution.

The researchers are among 218 Canadians who made the 2023 list, which included 6,849 scholars from more than 1,300 institutions in 67 nations and regions. The evaluation and selection process for the list draws on data from the Web of Science citation index, together with analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at Clarivate’s Institute for Scientific Information.
