Oluronke Taiwo, known to many at Dalhousie simply as Ronke, has touched the lives of many students over the past 14 years in her role as Black student advisor.

She has been a mentor, an advocate, and much more to Dal and University of King's College students of African descent, offering her services alongside others at the Black Student Advising Centre.

Taiwo, who retires from Dal this April, was honoured earlier this month with an Award for Black Excellence in recognition of her commitment and impact at Dal.

Cody Turner, visual media manager with Dalhousie's Communications, Marketing & Creative Services team, caught up with Tawio at Dal's African Heritage Month kick-off event earlier this month where she received the award.
