This year's Spring Convocation ceremonies saw Dalhousie students become graduates in a week that was full of celebration and recognition.

And among the many guests — from parents to alumni — were two of special guests of distinction receiving honorary degrees: former Governor General of Canada Her Excellency The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean and community leader Sandra L. Irving. These special honours recognize leadership or service to society, contributions to a field or discipline of study or non-academic achievement, or outstanding achievement at or contributions to the university.

You can read more about Drs. Jean and Irving here, and watch their inspiring speeches to Dal's newest graduates below.
