Career development in Canada
Being new to Canada, international students can anticipate a steeper learning curve when securing employment in a foreign job market. Management Career Services is available to help you gain the knowledge and skills required to successfully secure employment.
We don't just want to help you find a job, we want to help you with your career. We highly recommend that international students engage in the process early. Some resources that will be particularly beneficial to you include:
- 1:1 appointments with your Career and Recruitment Specialist
- Management Career Services' Career Smart workshops
- Dalhousie's Writing Centre and ESL Support
- Toastmasters
Work permits
International students are permitted to work both on-campus and off-campus.
All international students are permitted to work on-campus for Dalhousie University without the need for work authorization. For a list of on-campus employment opportunities, visit Dalhousie's Bissett Student Success Centre or check the 'Career Services' section of myCareer.
In order to work off-campus, you will need one of the following:
