Schulich School of Law Alumni Awards

Each year, we have the honour of recognizing extraordinary members of the Schulich Law community with four awards sponsored by the The Dalhousie Law Alumni Association.

How to Nominate an Alumna/Alumnus

Nominating an alumna/alumnus for the Weldon Award for Unselfish Public Service, Bertha Wilson Honour Society and/or Emerging Leader Impact Award is easy:

  • Refer to the eligibility requirements for each award to ensure the nominee meets the criteria (nominators must also be an alum of the Schulich School of Law)
  • Download the nomination form and complete it (note: you may use the same nomination form to nominate an alumna/alumnus for more than one award)
  • Write a letter of nomination outlining major accomplishments of the nominee and why you feel they should be considered.
  • Provide an outline of the nominee’s professional achievements (either their CV, their LinkedIn profile, or a biography)
  • Note: We encourage and welcome the inclusion of letters of support as part of the nomination package. While not mandatory, these letters provide valuable insights and perspectives that can enhance the overall nomination. Letters of support can be written by individuals other than alumni, allowing for a diverse range of perspectives to contribute to the nomination process.
  • Send the completed nomination package to the Schulich School of Law Alumni Relations Office by the deadline to lawalum@dal.ca
