The Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry (ACFD) is inviting applications for a new bridging program that is currently being piloted. The new pathway should make it quicker and cheaper for internationally-trained dentists to gain dental licensure in Canada. Applications open on February 1, 2025.
The ACFD Bridge Training to Dental Practice in Canada (BTDPC) Program is aimed at graduates of a minimum four-year recognized, but non-accredited, university dental program, who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. It will provide a third pathway to licensure, in addition to passing the National Dental Examining Board exams or by securing a place in an advanced-standing or similar program at one of Canada’s dental schools.
The integration of internationally trained dentists is essential to support the Canadian health care system.
The BTDPC will be piloted and evaluated over the next two years in three locations: Alberta, at the University of Alberta; Nova Scotia, at Dalhousie University; and Québec. at l’Université Laval. For more information, please go to the ACFD website.
