On Tuesday, March 26, 2013, both Leah Brown and Alexis Stevenson took home awards from The Dalhousie student Impact Awards.
Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) student, Alexis Stevenson, took home a Rising Star Award for demonstrating an outstanding level of commitment, leadership, creativity, and initiative to the Dalhousie Student Union, as well as to the campus and community at large. Alexis has held several positions on the Computer Science Society including Secretary, Social Rep and President. She is also currently the President of the Equestrian Society and has spent time working tirelessly with the Computer Science Co-op Office to improve the student experience. It's not hard to see why she's considered a 'rising star' on campus!
BCS student, Leah Brown, took home the Faculty Leadership Award for Computer Science for not only being in good academic standing, but also for exemplifying the highest level of passion for Computer Science, for taking initiative in creating new opportunities, and for encouraging peers to engage in FCS events. Faculty Leadership Award winners positively impact other students in their Faculty and the reputation of their Faculty at Dal outside of the classroom. Leah is currently the President of the Women in Technology Society (WiTS) and is also currently a Student Ambassador for FCS, volunteering with our outreach program, visiting high schools and helping out with all events around recruitment to Dal and the Faculty of Computer Science.
Both of these students have offered a lot of their time to FCS, and to Dal, so we'd like to say a big thank you, as well as "Congratulations" for their recognition
