Before students can begin to study in one of Dalhousie’s EAP courses, we have to know their level of English.
If students already have an IELTS, TOEFL or other test score (CAEL, CanTest, MELAB, TOEIC), this can be used for placement in a course. You will send these scores to us when you register.
If students do not have an IELTS, TOEFL or other test score (CAEL, CanTest, MELAB, TOEIC), they must sit an EAP Placement Test.
About the EAP Placement Test
The EAP Placement Test is to assess a student for entrance into an ESL program at Dalhousie University. The placement test assesses reading, writing, listening, grammar, vocabulary and the use of that knowledge to understand meaning in communication.
The test is approximately 2 hours long and is completed on a computer.
