In Celebration of Organic Week 2023, the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada (OACC) organized an ‘Organic Conversations’ event on the Dalhousie University, Faculty of Agriculture campus! This is also home to the OACC.
This event brought together students, professors, farmers, provincial and regional industry organizations (Organics Nova Scotia and ACORN) and community members to engage in insightful and informative conversations about organic food and farming.
To get the conversation started, each attendee was invited to share their background in agriculture, why they are interested in organic, and what they were hoping to get out of the session. Thanks to our very engaged guests we were able to deep dive into conversations around sustainability, best- management farming practices, consumer perspectives, along with many other organic industry issues and trends.
Going forward we would like to continue hosting events such as this one, and we are exploring options for more routine conversations around organic agriculture and sustainability.
