This past weekend participants from the Reproductive Performance course, within the High-Performance Herd Certificate, gathered on campus for their in-person, hands on, component.
Twelve students (including one virtual student), joined Dr. Frank Schenkels as they toured Winding River Farms in Alton, NS to learn more about reproductive performance on their farm that was followed up by presentations and discussions in the classroom.
The students were from various locations across of Nova Scotia, including one virtual NB student, who all share the same passion for increasing their knowledge within various aspects of the dairy industry.
I want to send out a huge thank you to our sponsors for this course. They are Vetoquinol (https://www.vetoquinol.ca/eng), Merck (https://www.merck-animal-health.ca/) and Zoetis (https://www.zoetis.com/).
The final piece of this course will be for the students to identify and start to implement what/how they would like to improve reproductive performance on their farms.
The next course in the certificate is Nutrition and Feeding that begins March 5th and will be taught by Jeff Walker.
