AC Campus Mail Service Operational Update

Posted by stephanie rogers on May 5, 2020 in News

The AC Campus daily mail delivery to all campus buildings will be reduced to an “mail room pick up / drop off by appointment only” system until further notice.

All outbound / inbound mail must include the following:

o   Shippers name,  Department Name,

o   Building Name, Civic Address, and Postal Code

FM staff will do mail/parcel pick up to Canada Post in Truro on Mon/Wed/Fri and mail will be centrally located at the Campus Mailroom in Cumming Hall for prescheduled pick up.

Effective May 1, 2020, All residence letter mail and parcels/packages will be delivered to the residence office on the regular weekly delivery schedule to be sorted by residence staff and placed in the student’s respective mailbox in each of the residence buildings.

All packages (inter-office and Canada Post) for staff / departments will be held at the campus mailroom and can only be picked up, if scheduled with FM as per the following.

o   If there are any special package pick up arrangements that need to be made, clients/staff/students are asked to forward the request to mailroom.dalac@Dal.Ca  OR enter a FAMIS Self-Serve request (Work Order). Mail delivery is a function of FM and there will be no additional charges for these requests.

o   Campus Mailroom pick up hours will be Mon / Wed / Fri from 8:30am to 12:00pm

All FM staff are to use Nitrile Gloves when handling mail, wash hands regularly, use Purell when required and follow all other universal precautions as recommended by NS Public Health and Dalhousie University.  We ask that all staff and students do the same before package pick up or when handling and posting mail / packages.

Exterior courier services continue to serve the campus community.  Staff are to use their own internal departmental resources to arrange delivery / pick-up of all courier-based packages.   All Items ordered for delivery to the campus should be addressed directly to the department and arrange a contact for delivery.  These items should not be shipped directly to the Campus Mailroom.

The above changes are now in place and are subject to change due to the fluidity of the COVID-19 directives both from Dalhousie University and Public Health.  As adjustments are made, additional communications will follow.

Sincerely,
Facilities Management
