Elaine Gibson

Elaine Gibson is a faculty member at the Schulich School of Law. She served as Associate Director of the Health Law Institute for thirteen years. She just completed a three-year term as faculty representative on the Senate of Dalhousie University. Elaine’s LL.B. was completed at University of Saskatchewan and her LL.M. at University of Toronto. Her areas of expertise include health law, public health, medical malpractice, privacy law, and torts.  Elaine participates in a number of research projects concerning the privacy and confidentiality of health information, especially its use in the areas of health research and public health surveillance.  She is co-editor (with Jocelyn Downie) of Health Law at the Supreme Court of Canada (Toronto: Irwin Law, 2007).
