Options for Design Support

Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT)

Educational Developers at the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) are available to offer help and support with your course design and course development plan. They can help you select online learning and assessment strategies to meet your course and learning objectives. Libraries Copyright Office

The Dal Libraries Copyright Office provides information about copyright and Fair Dealing Guidelines, and support in selecting and using Open Educational Resources (OER). Email the Copyright Office for support or questions.

Libraries Course Reserves

You can submit your list of readings and videos to Course Reserves at the Dalhousie Libraries for copyright clearance, purchasing or digitization, as required, and the creation of an e-reading list in your course in Brightspace. Learn more about Course Reserves.

Academic Technology Services (ATS)

Instructional technologists at ATS can help you learn the different instructional tools and technologies (such as Panopto and Collaborate Ultra). They can also provide direct support with course building in Brightspace. Email ATS or visit the Get in Touch page for more contact options.

Planning Templates

When planning the design of your online course, you may want to use our Course Plan and Development Strategy templates. These can be completed by you individually or in concert with an Educational Developer at the CLT.

Course Plan Template

This template helps you design your course by specifying course- and module-level outcomes, sequencing the topics in your course, and aligning assessments and activities with learning outcomes. Download the Course Plan Template.

Development Strategy Template

This template helps you think about the to-dos to setting up your course design in the online space. After transferring the information from the Course Plan Template, use this guide to specify the content for your course, develop a list of to-dos, and record notes about your Brightspace course site and modules.
