Prestigious Scholarships and Awards

Prestigious scholarships are specialized external awards that are given to some of the highest achieving students at the University. These scholarship programs are nationally and internationally renowned, and are pathways to academic, personal and professional achievement. (See Upper Year Award Planning)

The Office of the Provost provides leadership in scholarship and innovation in teaching and learning and works with staff, faculty and educational leaders to ensure that students are matched with the right opportunities. It encourages and supports these prestigious applications through its commitment of professional resources across campus that turn hopeful candidates into successful scholars.

Information about scholarship requirements, deadlines, and benefits can be found on the 3M National Student Fellowship page, the Rhodes Canada Scholarship page, the McCall MacBain Scholarship and the Rhodes Global Scholarship page. Please note that Dalhousie University's deadlines are in advance of the scholarship application deadlines; interested applicants should prepare well in advance.

McCall MacBain Scholarship

The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are Canada’s first leadership-driven scholarship for master’s and professional degree students. They represent an investment in students who are developing expertise in their respective fields, have a track record of taking initiative, and seek to collaborate with others to understand and address important problems and challenges.

The McCall MacBain Scholarship covers tuition and fees for an eligible master’s or professional program at McGill University, a living stipend of $2,000 a month, and a comprehensive enrichment program. Up to 20 full scholarships and 60 entrance awards will be granted based on character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength, and intellectual curiosity.
