Dalhousie Libraries have signed on to Borrow Anywhere, Return Anywhere—an innovative, province-wide program that will make borrowing a book even easier and more convenient.

The new service allows gives Dalhousie students, staff and faculty members access to more than 100 libraries throughout the province.

Developed by Libraries Nova Scotia, a collaboration of all public, college and university libraries in the province, the program creates seamless, barrier-free library access.

“Let’s say you’re in Cape Breton on holiday. You end up at the closest library to borrow a book, a book which you can return here once you’re back on campus,” explains Sandy Dwyer, head of circulation at the Killam Library. “We really believe it is worth the extra effort and the cost that might be involved if it gets more people reading.”

The Dalhousie Libraries are already members of Novanet, a consortium of Nova Scotia university and college libraries. Borrow Anywhere, Return Anywhere opens up access to public libraries too.

To borrow books—not to mention CDs, DVDs, books on tape, magazines and more—simply bring identification or a public library card to get a free membership at any participating library. To return borrowed items, drop them off at the nearest library.
