Important changes related to the fleet of office printers

Posted by Printing Services on January 24, 2024 in General Announcements

Remote work continues across Dalhousie’s campuses, and this has resulted in decreased usage of the fleet of office printers. A review of the printer fleet is underway with the goal being to share devices where possible and remove machines that are no longer needed.

The fleet contract with Konica Minolta has been extended until September 30, 2025, but there are still printer contracts expiring in the next few months that have not yet been renewed. Email notices are now being sent to the contacts responsible for each printer regarding renewal. When you receive a notice, your prompt attention is appreciated.

If usage is low and devices are no longer needed, Konica will accept returns with no financial penalty to the university.

As communicated in a Faculty & Unit Financial Administrator’s Meeting in the fall, the lease expense for fleet printers will be charged back to departments, faculties and units through monthly upload starting in April 2024.

The new fee structure will be communicated in the email notice, with specific device expense and important dates to note.

If you do not receive a notice about a fleet printer in the next month and you think you should have received one, please email office.printers@dal.ca and refer to the device ID on the sticker on the front of the printer.

If there is a new contact person for a fleet printer in your area, please forward the notice to the appropriate person and email office.printers@dal.ca so records can be updated.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to office.printers@dal.ca
