Impact on Global Goals: Taking action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Posted by Rankings Strategy Working Group on November 16, 2022 in General Announcements

Impact on Global Goals is a new section on dal.ca that showcases some of the many initiatives across Dalhousie’s campuses, classrooms, labs, and offices that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The site is organized to align with Dalhousie’s Strategic Plan by focusing on action related to research, student experience, civic engagement, and university operations.

Content for this section will be updated regularly, and collaboration is encouraged. Please email stefanie.wilson@dal.ca with suggestions for new material.

More about the UN SDGs

In 2015, the United Nations Member States agreed that “ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”

The 17 SDGs, were developed as an urgent call for action by all countries—working in a global partnership to achieve the goals by 2030.

Dalhousie is committed to supporting the important work of fulfilling the SDGs. A commitment outlined in Third Century Promise Dalhousie University's Strategic Plan 2021-2026, and demonstrated in the way the university’s five identified signature research clusters and two cross-cutting themes are linked to specific SDGs.
