Potential service delays due to staffing shortages

Posted by Facilities Management on June 22, 2022 in Facilities Management

We would like to inform all campus clients that we that we currently have a significant number of vacant frontline service positions particularly in skilled trades, custodial and grounds. Recruiting for these positions has been on-going, but due to the extremely high demand for frontline workers in Halifax, progress in filling these vacancies has been slow.

During the next few months, please expect staffing shortages to cause some delays in response time and service. High-priority areas such as Ancillary Services, Student Services, Libraries, Athletics and Research will be less impacted.

Despite the reduced staffing levels, we are committed to maintaining appropriate sanitary conditions in all areas and will respond to high priority client calls in a timely manner.

If you notice an area that appears to be unsanitary or in disrepair, please contact FM Client Services by submitting a service request or send an e-mail to FMClientReception@Dal.Ca. If you make a request, please indicate when someone will be in the affected area to provide access and directions for the necessary repairs/attention.

If you know anyone who may be interested in applying for open vacancies, please direct them to Dalhousie University | Search Jobs (peopleadmin.ca) Please select Facilities Management in the dropdown menu under ‘Position Type.’

We appreciate your cooperation and patience while we work to address this staffing shortage.
