A call for engagement in NS municipal elections

Posted by College of Continuing Education on August 25, 2020 in General Announcements

The College of Continuine Education has partned with African NS Affairs in an effort to increase voter turnout in municipal elections. The initiative was featured in the Chronicle Herald (https://www.thechronicleherald.ca/opinion/local-perspectives/john-demont-a-call-for-engagement-in-nova-scotia-municipal-elections-482041/) and the website, yourdecision.ca was launched recently. A video was also part of the production included on the Dalhousie University YouTube channel. The website promotes a series of webinars and online events meant to get more people involved in municipal government work and increase in their understanding of what elected officials do. Municipal election day is October 17th.

The official description of yourdecision.ca is included here: yourdecision.ca is a project dedicated to encouraging all Nova Scotians to become engaged in local politics through voting, volunteering on a campaign, or running for election. We want Nova Scotians to feel included in the decisions that affect the communities they live in. We also want to see the abilities and perspectives of all Nova Scotians reflected in local government. There’s strength in diversity.
