Microsoft has announced that as of January 14, 2020, all support for the Windows 7 operating system will stop.
Consequently, and to prepare departments currently relying on these older computers, ITS is advising that anyone with Windows 7 computers upgrade to Windows 10.
After January 15th, 2020, computers running the Windows 7 Operating System will become more vulnerable to cyber-attack. When Microsoft announces end-of-life support for an operating system, security updates will no longer be sent. That will pose a significant security threat to our network and to your data.
In anticipation, ITS requests that Faculty or Staff running Windows 7, who require assistance with an upgrade to the Windows 10 operating system, contact support@dal.ca.
