PAY RATE: The pay rate for all Part Time Academic positions is in accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:This course will consider various elements of leadership in a complex,multi-professional and rapidly changing healthcare system, and will enable students to assess and strengthen their own leadership style. An understanding of current trends and issues in healthcar ewill provide a basis for the development of leadership skills. Critical thinking, decision-making processes and other leadership behaviours will be examined.

FORMAT/COMMENTS: Online Delivery via Brightspace.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The sessional lecturer will be responsible for all aspects of developing, teaching and administering HSCE 4030.03. The course will be offered on-line through the Brightspace learning platform and will assist students in exploring issues of leadership in contemporary health care. Focus will be on developing leadership skills and gaining insight into the political mechanisms by which health policy is shaped and influenced. The maximum enrollment for this course is 65 students.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS of POSITION: An undergraduate degree and current certification in a health discipline and/or relevant master's degree preferred. An understanding of theories of leadership, health services administration and their application to health care environments. Teaching at the university level specific to issues of leadership in health care and a broad understanding of current health system issues including professionalism, certification and regulation.
