The Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University campus is located in Truro, NS. Offering technical, undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, food, environment, and social science disciplines, the Faculty of Agriculture educates future leaders and generates knowledge and innovative solutions for healthy, sustainable societies.  This position will be located in the Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus, Truro, Nova Scotia. The Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences offers a stimulating academic environment featuring a breadth of expertise, a strong applied research focus, and linkages across the university and beyond.

The Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences in the Faculty of Agriculture invites applications for a full-time, Limited Term Appointment (12 month), Instructor in Environmental Sciences with teaching (domestic and international articulated programs), academic program coordination, and service responsibilities with salary appropriate to qualification and experience.

A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science from a recognized university, plus at least one year of teaching/professional experience in Environmental Science or Environmental industry sector is required.  Applicants must have knowledge and experience in Environmental issues, Climate Change, Environmental Impacts, Impacts Assessment, Environmental Remediation, and providing solutions for various environmental issues. Evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level is required.

Demonstrated excellence and strong passion in teaching in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment, with strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and an ability to work in co-operation with a number of university-, government-, and industry- groups are desirable assets. The individual must be highly motivated with sound judgement, professionalism, integrity, collegiality, resourcefulness, innovation, self-motivation, excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills.

The successful applicant will teach distance, diploma, and degree courses in Environmental Sciences, Plant Sciences, Integrated Environmental Management, Landscape Horticulture and Landscape Architecture programs within Dalhousie University and at international universities where articulation agreements are in effect. The incumbent may also act in the role of an Academic Advisor for the Environmental Sciences. The successful applicant is expected to build strong connections with the Canadian and regional agriculture, agri-food and environmental industries through teaching and outreach activities. The applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching and service to the university.
