Position
Part-time Academic position teaching course PHLA3001 (Animal Ethics) in the 2019 fall semester. The lectures for this course are currently scheduled for Tuesdays (1005-1125) and Thursdays (1005-1125).  Options for online teaching can be discussed. The position reports to the Chair of the Department. 

Department/Location
Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

Pay Rate: In accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Work Assignment
The Instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation. 
 
Requirements of Position
Teaching experience at a University Level an asset; at least a Masters Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience and professional qualifications with a background in ethics, demonstrated teaching effectiveness and excellent interpersonal skills with students and Faculty.

Position
Part-time Academic position teaching labs for course BIOA3008 (Growth, Reproduction and Lactation) in the 2019 fall semester.  Labs for this course are scheduled for Fridays (1135-1325) and Wednesdays (1135 – 1325).   The position reports to the Chair of the Department.
 
Department/Location - Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

Pay Rate: In accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Work Assignment
The part-time academic is expected to work cohesively with the instructor responsible for the course, and will be responsible for lab preparation and instruction.  This includes up to  3 sections for each of the 12 weekly labs.  Lab sessions focus on the reproductive anatomy of domestic animal species, and the incumbent will be responsible for some sourcing of anatomical material used in the labs, set up of the labs, and for disposal of materials.  The incumbent is expected to mark formal lab reports; familiarity with the Brightspace system to provide information and in student assessment is an asset.

 
Requirements of Position
Previous experience teaching in post-secondary education, with excellent oral and written communication skills.  A PhD or Masters Degree in Agriculture or related discipline is required.  Experience in the field of physiology would be considered an asset.

Part-time Academic position teaching online Course ANSC2004 (Organic Livestock Production) in the 2020 winter semester.

ANSC2004 is a distance education course overseen by the Chair of the Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture.  The Part-time Academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation.

Requirements of Position
Ph.D preferred in the area of Animal Science.  Would consider a MSc. in the area of expertise, with a minimum of two years' experience.  Demonstrated teaching experience required in a post-secondary level environment, with experience in organic livestock systems.  Previous experience in supervising students would be an asset.

Part-time Academic position teaching Course ANSC0206 (Dairy Milking Systems and Housing Facilities) in the 2019 fall semester. The lectures for this course are currently scheduled for Tuesdays (0835-1125) with labs being held on Thursdays (1435-1725).  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

Pay Rate: In accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Work Assignment
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and delivering course material related to the fundamentals of Dairy Facility Design and Management.  Core concepts to be taught include: barn layout options & housing alternatives, design and logistics of isolation, building environment, manure collection, feed and water storage, traffic control and farm biosecurity, milking center design/management.  Responsibilities include all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation, and lab preparation.

Requirements of Position
Experience in the dairy industry and being able to demonstrate knowledge in the subject are requirements.
