TEACHING ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:  Bachelor of Management Program

POSITION #1:  Teaching Assistant - 3 positions available (September - December 2018).


PAY RATE:  $23.00/hour (approx. 45 hours)

WORK ASSIGNMENT:

Reporting to the course professor, the teaching assistant(s) will assist with MGMT 2601 - Knowledge Management. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Conducting a weekly 80 minute tutorial session (options are; Wednesdays @ 1605-1725; and Fridays @ 1005-1125 or 1135-1255).
  2. Holding regular office hours to consult and review course material with students (one hour per week, at a minimum).  TA's may also have to meet with students on an ad hoc basis.  TAs will have to make themselves more available as assignment submission, midterm and final exam dates approach.
  3. Tracking student attendance as directed by the course professor.
  4. Be available (times and dates to be determined) to help proctor the midterm and final examinations.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Individuals interested in applying for this position should be graduate students and have an extensive familiarity with the Bachelor of Management program curriculum.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and capacity for organization and working to a deadline are required. Familiarity with the Dalhousie Brightspace online portal would be beneficial. Preference will be given to those with prior teaching assistance experience and particularly to those with prior experience in teaching management related courses at the undergraduate level.

Marker - 3 positions available (September - December 2018).


PAY RATE:  $15.96/hour (approx. 20 hours)

WORK ASSIGNMENT: 

Marker for MGMT 2601 – This is a marking position for the MGMT 2601 - Knowledge Management class. The position will assist with marking assignments and exams periodically throughout the semester.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Individuals interested in applying for this position should be graduate students and have an extensive familiarity with the Bachelor of Management program curriculum.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and capacity for organization and working to a deadline are required. Familiarity with the Dalhousie Brightspace online portal would be beneficial. Preference will be given to those who have completed knowledge management/information management or equivalent/similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level. Previous experience as a marker would be an asset.
