Position: Part-Time Academic – Fall 2018 – ARTS 2000 Nature’s Image: A Survey of Landscape Art

Department:  Department of Business & Social Sciences

Pay Rate:  In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement

Work Assignment:   This instructor will teach ARTS 2000, Nature’s Image: A Survey of Landscape Art, for the period of September – December 2018.  The class is currently scheduled for Mondays, 17:35 – 20:25 lectures.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level an asset; at least a Masters Degree in Fine Art or related field, or degree in a related field and equivalent Experience and Professional Qualifications; Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and excellent interpersonal skills with students and Faculty.

Position: Part-Time Academic – Fall 2018 – CMMT 0030 - English for Academic Purposes

Department:  Department of Business & Social Sciences

Pay Rate:  $15,696 to $19,083 (incl. 6% vacation pay) - Depending on teaching experience with Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture

Work Assignment:   This instructor will teach CMMT 0030, English for Academic Purposes for the period of September – December 2018.  This course is currently scheduled for Mondays, 15:35-17:25; Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 18:05-20:55; Thursdays 17:35-20:25; and Fridays, 11:35-14:25.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  This course is designed to build international students’ capacity to speak, write and read English at a university level.  Students taking this class will have a TOEFL score of less than 6.5.  The intention is to provide a curriculum which allows students to achieve a TOEFL score of at least 6.5.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department. 

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level an asset; Experience teaching ESL with at least a Masters Degree in a relevant field, or Degree in a related field and equivalent Experience and Professional Qualifications; demonstrated teaching effectiveness and excellent interpersonal skills with students and Faculty.

Work Assignment:   This instructor will teach SPNA 1000 - Basic Spanish I for the period of September – December 2018.  This course is currently scheduled for Mondays/Wednesdays, 19:05-20:25.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level an asset; at least a Masters degree in Spanish, or equivalent experience and professional qualifications and possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.  Must be able to demonstrate effectiveness in university teaching and possess excellent interpersonal skills with students and Faculty.
