Reminder: Search for University Advisor & Assistant Vice‑President, Equity and Inclusion

Posted by Provost's Office on July 25, 2017 in General Announcements

Dalhousie has been engaged in dialogue to define and develop the strategic framework for Human Rights and Equity Services and the more general frameworks for promoting educational and employment diversity, inclusivity and equity. As part of this, Jim Neale recently led a significant, broad-based consultation initiative that resulted in a Framework and organizational structure for Dalhousie’s Human Rights and Equity Services.

This Framework, along with the dialogue and work related to Strategic Priority 5.2, have informed the creation of a University Advisor & Assistant Vice-President (UA/AVP), Equity and Inclusion role, reporting to the Provost. The UA/AVP is the senior leader of Human Rights and Equity Services and advisor to University senior leadership on institutional diversity, equity and inclusion matters.

A search committee has been established:
Carolyn Watters, Provost and Vice-President Academic (Chair)
Arig al Shaibah, Vice-Provost, Student Affairs
Amina Abawajy, President, Dalhousie Student Union
Cassandra Dorrington, Board appointee
Kevin Hewitt, Senate appointee
Isabelle French, Dalhousie Legal Counsel
Patricia Doyle-Bedwell, Professor/Native Studies Instructor
Vivian Howard, Associate Dean Academic, Faculty of Management
Tracy Rands, Director, Talent Management
