POSITION: Part-Time Academic - MUSC 2007.06: Guitar History & Techniques, January 1 – April 30, 2018

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Fountain School of Performing Arts

PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of one section of MUSC 2007.06, Guitar History and Techniques, from January 1 to April 30, 2018.
The candidate will work closely with instructors of other sections of this class in order to coordinate curriculum requirements. The instructor is required to provide a Method of Assessment and course outline and to announce end of term student ratings/evaluations of instruction.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Music; proven experience in the teaching of guitar - university teaching experience preferred; significant knowledge of guitar history and repertoire; computer literacy.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: MA or MFA in Theatre, Costume Studies, or related discipline.  Candidates with a BA or BFA in Theatre, Costume Studies or related discipline and substantial professional experience in clothing construction in general will be considered.  Experience of teaching at the university level, with documented evidence of teaching ability, is an asset.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: MA or MFA in Theatre, Costume Studies, or related discipline. Candidates with a BA or BFA in Theatre, Costume Studies or related discipline and substantial professional experience in relevant discipline will be considered. Extensive experience as a pattern designer/cutter of contemporary clothing is essential, as is firsthand knowledge of contemporary fashion theory. WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will be responsible for teaching a module on movement for actors as a part of THEA 4840.06 Advanced Performance Techniques class from September 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018. The instructor will be responsible to prepare and grade all assignments in this module. This is an hourly paid teaching position for a maximum of 32 hours in an academic year. This course is an integral part of the Acting Program and comes at the end of a three-year cycle.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: BA or BFA, plus specialization in teaching creative and period movement to actors in a classical actor training program. Evidence of strong teaching effectiveness is essential, as is professional performance experience. Familiarity with Dalhousie University Acting Program is considered an asset.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will be responsible for teaching a module on stage management from September 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018.
The instructor works closely with the student stage management team, Fountain School of Performing Arts (FSPA) faculty and staff during rehearsals and the run of the FSPA main stage productions (supervising, checking and maintain proper professional CAEA standards and practices, as well as marking student work). This is an hourly paid teaching position for a maximum of 120 hours in an academic year.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: BA in Theatre, Drama or equivalent, with professional accreditation in the area of expertise.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic is required to teach MUSC 3210.06: Composition I and/or MUSC 4210.06: Composition II, from September 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018.
The successful candidate will work in consultation and coordination with the full-time Composition professor. Duties include but are not limited to teaching composition students one-on-one for one hour weekly, provision of a Method of Assessment and course outline, adjudication of final recital, grade submission as per School guidelines, announcement of end of term student ratings/evaluations of instruction. There may also be a requirement to host the group composers’ class and/or coordinate the Composition Program.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Master of Music (MMus) or equivalent in artistic experience in the field of instrumental concert music; significant professional experience as a composer; proven successful pedagogical experience as a composition teacher; excellent communication skills; computer literacy.
