Position: Part-Time Academic – Winter 2018 – AGRI 4001 (80%) – Agriculture, Food & Well Being (80%) – Online Delivery

Department:  Department of Business & Social Sciences

Pay Rate:  In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement

Work Assignment:   This instructor will teach 80% of a team-taught course for AGRI 4001 – Agriculture, Food & Well Being for the period of January – April 2018.  The exact class time is yet to be determined but the instructor can expect to teach approximately 3 hours of lectures per week via Distance education.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level; at least a Masters degree in a relevant area; Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and excellent interpersonal skills with students and Faculty.

Position: Part-Time Academic – Fall 2017 – CMMT 0030 - English for Academic Purposes

Department:  Department of Business & Social Sciences

Pay Rate:  $14,643 to $17,907 (incl. 4% vacation pay) - Depending on teaching experience with Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture

Work Assignment:   This instructor will teach CMMT 0030, English for Academic Purposes for the period of September – December 2017.  This course is currently scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays, 18:05-20:55; Wednesdays, 17:35-20:25; Thursdays 11:35-13:25 and 14:35-17:25.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  This course is designed to build international students’ capacity to speak, write and read English at a university level.  Students taking this class will have a TOEFL score of less than 6.5.  The intention is to provide a curriculum which allows students to achieve a TOEFL score of at least 6.5.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department. 

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level; Experience teaching ESL with at least a Masters Degree in a relevant field, or Degree in a related field and equivalent Experience and Professional Qualifications; Certificate in ESL, demonstrated teaching effectiveness and excellent interpersonal skills with students and Faculty.

Work Assignment:   This instructor will teach MGTA 4001 – Advanced Entrepreneurship for the period of January – April 2018.  The class is currently scheduled for Mondays, 08:35-11:25 for lectures.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements:   Teaching experience at a University Level; at least a Masters Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience and professional qualifications; Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and excellent interpersonal skills with students and Faculty.
