Seeking 11‑ to 12‑year‑olds for study on the effects of similarity on sharing

Posted by Psychology & Neuroscience on April 11, 2017 in General Announcements

At the Early Social Development Lab at Dalhousie University, we use simple, interactive games to learn about children’s social development. We’re currently looking for 11- to 12-year-old children to participate in a study on the effects of similarity on sharing. Children are eligible to take part if they are 11 or 12 years old, English speaking, and do not have any diagnosed developmental disabilities (such as Autism or Down Syndrome) or any diagnosed psychological disorders (such as Anxiety or Mood Disorders).

In this study, your child will play a game in which s/he will have to decide how to share a prize with 3 other children who either like the same things as your child, like things your child does not like, or who do not provide information about their likes dislikes.

Participation involves one 30-minute visit to the Early Social Development Lab at Dalhousie University. In general, we’re available 7 days a week and would be happy to accommodate your family’s schedule. We also offer reserved parking for families. Children receive a certificate and a stationary set as a thank-you and families are entered in a draw to win 1 of 3 prizes: a family movie pass, a $50 restaurant voucher, or a $100 grocery gift card.

If you have any questions or are interested in participating, please contact Stef Hartlin at esdl@dal.ca or (902) 494-6106.
