Exploring Best Practices Around Blended and Online Learning at Dalhousie

Three-Part Faculty Workshop series - Open to faculty and sessional instructors only

Are you interested in reviewing and conceptualizing how to best approach eLearning? Would you like to be a part of a generative discussion around transformative learning at Dalhousie? This workshop will provide faculty and part-time academics an opportunity to reflect on their teaching practice and identify successful approaches to blended and online learning through discussion and a review of current research.

Workshop participants will work together to inform future practices in online and blended learning to ensure that the Dalhousie community provides students with a rich and effective eLearning experience. Discussion will focus on understanding participants' current engagement in, and practices of, online and blended learning; the barriers and facilitators to engaging in eLearning at Dalhousie; and how the eLearning community at Dalhousie can support their practice, growth, and development with online and blended learning.

The goals of this workshop are for participants to:
- better consider the nature of the technology choices they make in their eLearning practices;
- learn about and share how the Dalhousie community is currently engaging in online and blended learning;
- connect with like-minded colleagues and experts to support their innovations teaching;
- identify trends and themes at Dalhousie University and in literature that can be disseminated to the entire community; and
- identify institutionally supported technologies for use in teaching based on evidence in practice.

This series will be used to inform best practice and identify the landscape of blended and online learning at Dalhousie University, providing an opportunity for faculty to contribute to the future of blended and online learning at Dalhousie. This workshop series is designed to achieve that goal by synthesizing the information, discussion, and perspectives gained from participants to inform future eLearning support.

This is a three-part workshop for faculty and part-time instructors that will be offered on: January 19th, 10:00-12:00, March 2nd, 10:00-12:00, and March 30th 10:00 am -12:00 pm. Participants are strongly encouraged to commit to attending all three sessions.
