Position: Part-time Instructor – Summer 2017

Department:  Engineering

Pay Rate:  Pay will range from $4881.00- $5969.00

Work Assignment:   The Part-time Instructor will teach a blended (online + in-class) offering of CHMA 0050: Preparatory Chemistry.  The online component of the course, including the lab component is offered from July 3rd – August 31, 2016.  The Part-time Instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including: instruction and facilitation of the online component; instruction for the in-class labs; and test preparation and evaluation for both the online component and the in-class labs. 

Prior to course delivery the Part-Time Instructor will also be responsible for ensuring the course, with the exception of the labs, are entirely online. This involves content, assessments, evaluations, and course settings. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements:  M.Sc. with experience teaching pre-university or lower-division Chemistry, PhD preferred. At least one year experience of teaching in a postsecondary educational institution. Experience in an online teaching environment in Brightspace, and demonstrated fluency with educational technologies. Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format and to work online with students on a daily basis.  Have access to a personal computer and broadband internet services.   Able to instruct and facilitate a meaningful learning experience of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the online learning environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
