Posted by Various on August 27, 2014 in Kudos

At the 2014 Canadian Urological Association (CUA) annual meeting, Dr. Jerzy Gajewski was awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to Canadian urology. It is not given every year--only when there is a deserving candidate.

Dr Gajewski, a professor within the Department of Urology, has been instrumental in development of the field of functional urology both in Canada and internationally. He is highly regarded as an innovative clinician, teacher and researcher within that field.

Dr. Gajewski is a past president of the Canadian Urologic Association and is currently president of the Northeastern section of the American Urologic Association.

Congratulations, Dr. Gajewski!

Congratulations to Mathematics and Statistics associate professor, Joanna Mills Fleming, for receiving a national Collaborative Research Team award from the newly formed Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute (CANSSI). Fleming’s proposal was one of three in Canada to be awarded funding. The $200,000 award is renewable until 2017, and will fund Flemming’s and her team in research on the project: Advancements to State-Space Models for Fisheries Science.

The Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute (CANSSI) is a national virtual institute offering the leadership and infrastructure necessary to increase and further develop statistical sciences research and promote the field of mathematics and statistics in Canada.
