June 9, 2014
2:30 – 4:00 p.m.
Room 224, Student Union Building

Come to this session to hear an alternative approach to resolving performance issues with employees, including those living and working with a mental health problem or illness. This strategy has proven to be both effective and supportive, even in longstanding or complex situations. You will learn from a nationally recognized leader in workplace relations who helps resolve issues for individuals, teams and organizations, including those involving mental health, psychological safety, or conflict and performance concerns. Get advice on helping people get unstuck, move beyond problems, reclaim dignity, preserve civility, restore productivity, and improve working lives.

Mary Ann Baynton is coming courtesy of the Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace which sponsors research and initiatives aimed at improving psychological health and safety in the workplace for all employers. She also works with employers, organizations, unions and associations who wish to improve, address or resolve workplace issues related to individual or organizational mental health issues. Mary Ann is the author of Resolving Workplace Issues and co-author with Dr. Martin Shain of Preventing Workplace Meltdown: An Employer’s Guide to Maintaining a Psychologically Safe Workplace.

In addition to being an independent consultant, Mary Ann serves as the Program Director of the Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace, Executive Director of Mindful Employer Canada, co-chair of the Technical Committee for the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (http://www.mentalhealthcommission.ca/English/node/5346), and expert panel member for the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
