Sobey's Chair in Alzheimer's Research ‑ call for applications

The Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University is pleased to invite applications from current faculty at Dalhousie for the DMRF Irene MacDonald Sobey Chair in Curative Approaches to Alzheimer’s Disease. The Chair position will enhance Alzheimer’s research in Atlantic Canada and will help bring focus to the diverse elements of Alzheimer’s research ongoing at Dalhousie University and the Capital District Health Authority (CDHA).

The Chair will be held by a scientist with a national and international reputation in Alzheimer’s research. The Chair will be expected to establish an active research program supported by national peer-reviewed funding. The ability to establish an ongoing productive collaborative relationship with researchers involved in neurodegenerative disease is essential. Moreover, the Chair will be responsible for providing research leadership locally and will advocate for and advance the cause for Alzheimer’s research within the public and charitable sectors.

This is an Endowed Chair and is a continuing position provided that the Chair continues to display high levels of research productivity as assessed through five-year summary reports that include evidence of productivity and impact in the field. Financial resources available from the Chair position should be used toward the research program.
