Participants Needed for Research Study ‑ Paper Annotation Tool for Tablet

We invite you to take part in a study being conducted by researchers in Dalhousie University to learn how to develop a more engaging and effective annotation application for tablet computer. We are looking for input and feedback on two applications that offers various techniques for annotating on an e-document.

The study will be conducted in two parts with 60 minutes of each. During the session you will be asked to meet researchers to take part in activity where you will use two applications to perform some common task and then discuss your thoughts on the experience. The findings of this study will help to evaluate the relative efficiency and effectiveness of both applications, which will eventually assist in developing guidelines for such application that will provide better user experience.

Active Reading is the combination of reading with critical thinking and learning, and which includes underlining, highlighting and scribbling, comments, on the source text or in separate notebook. In order to participate in the study you must have some experience with active reading on paper or e-document and you must have some experience in using tablet, smartphone or similar hand held devices with touch interface.

Study session will be conducted in quiet meeting room in Dalhousie University and it is expected to take about 120 minutes at the max. You will be compensated with $20 for your participation. If you are interested, please contact Varinder Singh by email at varinder.singh@dal.ca.
