This past Wednesday, February 27, was International Polar Bear Day. To mark the occasion, Halifax's Discovery Centre hosted a series of events, including film screenings and a "Who Bear" contest to name the centre's adopted polar bear. As part of the proceedings, Sara Iverson, professor of Biology and scientific director of the Ocean Tracking Network, gave an illustrated presentation on polar bear populations, feeding habits and movements across the Canadian Arctic with the changing climate.
