Teaching Assistantships Opportunities (2 positions)

POSTING DATE: January 28, 2013

POSITION: Teaching Assistants Summer (April to June 2013)

PAY RATE: As per Collective Agreement ($2795 for 130 hours)

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Priority will be given to applicants enrolled in the MSW program. Applicants
must have knowledge of critical social work and be empathic for the demands
of intensive social work education coupled with reasonable expectations of
students. Applicants must have excellent communication skills, energy,
enthusiasm, and willingness to be pro-active and involved. Applicants must
have a flexible schedule; applicants need to be available on-campus for at
least 4 hours a day between May 6th and May 17th.  Previous instructional
and marking experience would also be an asset.

JOB SUMMARY:
SLWK 4010 Advanced Social Work Practice is a Distance Education course
running from May to June, with a two week on-campus residency component
occurring from May 6th to May 17th. The teaching assistants will be
responsible for:
. Meeting with the instructor to understand the content and process of the
course
. Familiarizing themselves with the course content (reading the text,
monitoring and promoting dialogue within the BBL small group discussions,
tracking and record keeping of student participation and performance
. General organization and logistics of course activities (eg. organizing
flip cameras for recording; downloading a saving videos, movement of
students from room to room, etc)
. Supporting and nurturing students, facilitating classroom exercises as
designed by instructor
. Marking of assignments
            
WORK ASSIGNMENT: SLWK 4010 Advanced Social Work Practice & Residency (two
positions available for 130 hours each) from April-June, 2013.
