Follow‑up from the DALVision 2020 Senate Forum on Undergraduate Education

Posted by Dalhousie Senate / Academic Innovation project on November 29, 2012 in General Announcements

Thank you to everyone who attended the DALVision 2020 Senate Forum on Undergraduate Education, or who watched the proceedings live via webcast. The discussion was the first step in a much larger process of fostering a culture of increased academic innovation and development at the university, and we were thrilled by everyone's participation.

Some follow-up items from the forum:

- If you missed the forum, or wanted to re-watch any of the presentations, the videos have been made available online. As well, you can read full coverage of the forum on Dal News.

- Currently, the organizers are reviewing all of the discussion and ideas collected to synthesize them into a full report. That document will be presented to Senate and distributed to the Dal community in the new year.

- If you want to learn how you can get involved with discussions about academic innovation in the meantime, visit the Academic Innovation website. In particular, check out the Idea Blank blog, where you can engage with colleagues around a variety of topics related to teaching, academic planning and more.

- Finally, for more food-for-thought, the Education Advisory Board is hosting a presentation tomorrow (Friday) titled "The Promise and Perils of Innovation: Competitive Challenges to the Traditional Higher Education Model." The session is open to interested members of the Dal community, and takes place at 11 a.m. in University Hall in the Macdonald building. More information can be found on the Dalhousie Events Calendar.
