POSITION: Teaching Assistant for Prof. Daryl Eisan
Sept 2012-Dec 2012

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Bachelor of Management

PAY RATE: $21.29 (approx. 90 hours)

WORK ASSIGNMENT:

The Teaching Assistant will assist with the teaching of MGMT
2801-Government Structure.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Holding regular office hours to provide support and instruction to
students (one hour per week , at a minimum). TA's may also have to
meet with students on an ad hoc basis. TAs will have to make
themselves more available as assignment, midterm and final exam dates
approach

2. Provide explanations to students seeking additional information and
feedback on assignments after they have been returned. Uphold Faculty
rules concerning student integrity.

3. Administration of the BB Learn system for the section downloading
students' papers and submitting grades.

4. Be available to mark 50 midterms - midterm date TBA

5. Be available to mark two assignments (750 to 1000 words) from 50
students within a week of the submission dates noted:

Assignment #1 due: TBA

Assignment # 2 due: TBA


6. Track student attendance as directed by the Instructor.

7. Assist the Instructor when needed (times and dates will be arranged
between the professor and TA)

8. A TA will be called upon to provide a lecture for developmental
purposes or due to an Instructor's absence, for instance.

9. Be available (times and dates will be arranged between the
professor and TA) to help proctor the midterm examination

10. Be available (times and dates will be arranged between the
professor and TA) and one day during final exams to help with the midterm and final
examinations.


REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Successfully completed first year of MPA, or recently completed a MPA
or MA (Political Science)

Be familiar with the BB Learn system, and be available to learn it,
and be to operate the system for one or more sections of the class.

Have excellent communication skills

Prior experience as a TA would be very helpful. Preference will be
given to those with prior teaching assistance experience and
particularly to those with prior experience in teaching public
administration or government structure at the undergraduate level.
