Dalhousie's magnolia tree is in full bloom — and it's spectacular

- May 8, 2024

Take a walk around Dal's Studley Quad in early May, and you'll be treated to one of the campus's most pleasing — if short-lived — visual treats: the magnolia tree in full bloom.

Cody Turner, visual media manager with Dal's Communications, Marketing & Creative Services, captured a series of photos of the tree last week.

The petals are already beginning to shed, so lace up and get outside to check this natural beauty out before it's too late.

A small plaque embedded in granite underneath the tree serves as a thoughtful tribute to a former Dal employee who clearly meant a lot to her colleagues:

In loving memory of Sherri-Lee McDaniel. Our friend and colleague in the Killam Library. 1961-1996.

Old architecture, new growth.

In full bloom.

A frame for sacred teachings

A pleasure to stroll past. Remember to stop and admire.
