Dalhousie University presents our PepsiCo Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Lorena Heubach, Track & Field

Fourth-year combined events athlete Lorena Heubach won a bronze medal at the 2022 U SPORTS Track & Field Championships over the weekend to be named this week’s female PepsiCo Athlete of the Week.

She earned a bronze medal in the pentathlon after winning the long jump and placing second in the high jump, third in the shot put, fourth in the 800m and sixth in the 60m to finish the event with 3,791 points.

Lorena also placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.74 and was a member of the Tigers 4x200m relay team that placed seventh.

An engineering student, Lorena is from Wolfville, N.S.

Keevan Veinot, Basketball

Fourth-year guard Keevan Veinot is this week’s male PepsiCo Athlete of the Week.

Keevan led the Tigers to a fifth-place finish at the 2022 U SPORTS Men’s Final 8 Basketball Championship, hosted by the University of Alberta.

He was selected as Dalhousie’s player of the game after scoring 21 points along with six assists and three rebounds in the Tigers 90-80 loss to the Queen’s Gaels in the quarter-final round on Friday.

In Saturday’s 90-77 win over the Brock Badgers, he accumulated another 21 points while adding six rebounds and three assists to advance to the consolation final.

Keevan scored a career-high 30 points in the Tigers 98-72 win over the University of Victoria Vikes to lead the tigers to a fifth-place finish. He also had eight rebounds and two assists to be selected as the Tigers player of the game.

A native of Port Williams, N.S., Keevan is a commerce student.
