(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University presents our MUSCLE MLK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 15, 2019.

Rachelle Lalande, Soccer

Fifth-year midfielder Rachelle Lalande is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Rachelle scored the lone goal in the Tigers 2-1 loss to StFX over the weekend.

She played all 90 minutes for the Tigers in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to the Cape Breton Capers in Halifax.

On Sunday, she scored her first goal of the regular season in the second half in the Tigers 2-1 loss to StFX. She recorded three shots in her 90 minutes of action.

A kinesiology student, Rachelle is from Halifax, N.S.

Freddy Bekkers, Soccer

Fifth-year midfielder Freddy Bekkers is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.

Freddy was named the Subway Player of the Game in the Tigers 0-0 draw with the Cape Breton Capers Saturday afternoon in Halifax.

He recorded two shots in Saturday’s game against the Capers, playing in all 90 minutes of the match.

On Sunday, he controlled the ball in the midfield for the Tigers in their 1-0 loss to StFX.

A native of Halifax, N.S., Freddy is an engineering student.
