(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University presents our MUSCLE MLK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Maya Reynolds, Track & Field

Third-year sprinter Maya Reynolds is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Maya won her first U SPORTS medal over the weekend.

She entered the 60m ranked 6th and took over a tenth of a second off of her personal best, running 7.50 and winning a bronze medal.

A commerce major, Maya is from Markham, Ont.

 

Matt Coolen, Track & Field

Fourth-year sprinter Matt Coolen is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.

Matt successfully defended his U SPORTS 60m title with a new personal best of 6.75 to earn his second gold medal in as many years. The time breaks the current Dalhousie and Nova Scotia senior records and capped off an undefeated season for him at that distance.

He also ran a huge personal best and broke his own Dal record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.04 for a silver medal.

A native of Halifax, N.S., Matt is an engineering student.
