Kate Fines, Soccer

First-year goalkeeper Kate Fines is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Kate led the Tigers to a 1-1 record over the weekend.

In Saturday’s 1-0 loss to the Cape Breton Capers, she saved 11 of 12 shots, including two breakaway saves.

She was brave off her line again on Sunday, making five saves in the Tigers 2-1 win over the StFX X-Women.

An arts student, Kate is from Halifax, N.S.

Aiden Jamieson, Hockey

First-year defenceman Aiden Jamieson is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.

Aiden finished the weekend with a plus three after two games against Moncton and StFX.

In Wednesday night’s 4-3 shoot-out win over the Moncton Aigles Bleus, Aiden got his first career AUS goal midway through the first period, followed by his second just four minutes later to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead early on.

With regulation play ending in a tie and no scoring in the overtime period, the game went to a shootout. Aiden scored the lone goal, giving the Tigers the 4-3 win.

A native of Lindsay, Ont., Aiden is an arts student.
