G2 Athletes of the Week (week ending Jan. 15)

(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University presents our G2 Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 15, 2017.

Emma Ciprick, Volleyball

Third-year outside hitter Emma Ciprick is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

Emma was the Subway Player of the Game in both of the Tigers matches this weekend.

She had 10 kills, 15 digs and three aces for 13.5 points in the Tigers 3-0 victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies Wednesday night.

In Sunday’s 3-2 win over the Moncton Aigles Bleues, she had another five kills, and 14 digs.

A kinesiology student, Emma is from Binscarth, M.B.

Kristen O’Brien, Volleyball

Fifth-year outside hitter Kristen O’Brien is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

Kristen led the Tigers to a 2-1 record in AUS-RSEQ Interlock action at Dalplex over the weekend.

He had 13 points in Friday night’s 3-1 win over the Laval Rouge et Or, with 10 kills, five digs and five blocks. Kristen had 14 kills, five blocks and four digs to give him 17.5 points in the Tigers 3-1 loss to the Montreal Carabins. In their third and final match of the weekend, Kristen added another six kills, five blocks and five digs to lead the Tigers to a 3-0 win over the Sherbrooke Vert et Or.

A native of Truro, N.S., Kristen is a kinesiology student.
