Photo Essay: Dal preps for Pride Parade

- July 23, 2015

The Halifax Pride Parade, the biggest event of the Pride Festival, is happening this Saturday, July 25. Festival organizers are expecting more than 150,000 spectators at this year's event, as people take to the streets to celebrate the diversity and variety of life in HRM.

Thanks to a committed group of volunteers on campus, Dalhousie is (almost) ready. The Dal contingent will be traveling by foot or by float, as this year's entry includes a 30' flatbed donated by Added Touch, adorned with 6' tall D-A-L letters, built by Craig Maclaughlin, Matt Cummings and Mike Blakeney in Facilities Management.

All members of the Dalhousie community are welcome and encouraged to participate - either by marching in the parade, watching from the sidelines, or stopping by Studley Quad this Thursday to share your artistic skills and messages of encouragement and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

See the Pride Parade event listing for more information on meeting times and locations.

The theme of this year's Pride Festival is 'It's your pride.' With that in mind, we asked members of Dal's Pride Planning committee the question: What's your pride? See their responses below.
