Track and Field
The Tigers competed in the 2015 CIS Track and Field Championship at the University of Windsor this weekend. The women’s team finished in 14th with a 12.5 point performance, while the men’s team finished in 12th place with 22 points.
The Tigers earned four medals over the weekend, including a silver medal performance in the high jump with a height of 1.79m by Rebecca Haworth in her final competition with the black and gold. Jordan Bruce grabbed a silver medal in the triple jump with a distance of 14.91m, while Chas Smith finished just behind him with a 14.85m jump, taking the bronze medal.
Second-year jumper Devin Errington won the first medal for the Tigers on the second day of competition. His 2.07m jump earned him a bronze medal in the high jump.

Men’s Basketball
The Tigers were in Toronto this weekend competing in the 2015 ArcelorMittal Dofasco CIS Final 8 Men’s Championship. After winning the AUS championship, the Tigers entered the tournament as the fifth seed and squared off against the Canada West champion Victoria Vikes.
They got off to a hot start, holding a 15-11 lead after the first quarter of play. Their lead grew to as large as ten points in the second quarter, but the VIkes clawed back and trimmed the Tigers lead to just four points at halftime.
The Vikes piled on a 10-0 run to start the second half, and the Tigers found themselves down 46-42 heading into the fourth quarter. After both teams struggled to get the lid off the basket to start the fourth, Kashrell Lawrence scored with 27 seconds left in the game to give the Tigers a 56-55 lead.
The Vikes regained the lead soon after, nailing a pair of free throws with six seconds left. The Tigers had a last-second chance to take the game, but Lawrence couldn’t convert on a heavily contested shot, losing 57-56.
Lawrence led the Tigers with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Sven Stammberger had 14 points and nine boards.
The loss pitted the Tigers against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in the consolation round. They held a six-point lead going into the fourth quarter, but the Huskies caught fire in the and defeated the Tigers 90-79. Sven Stammberger had a career-high 34 points in the loss, while Jarred Reid had 16 points and six rebounds.
