Robert McCulloch, Track and Field

Third year student-athlete Robert McCulloch led his team to claim the title at the Subway AUS track and field championships hosted at UdeM this past weekend. Robert placed third in the men’s high jump, second in the men’s 60 metre hurdles, and first in the indoor pentathlon with 3,555 points, 200 points above any other competitor. For the third year in a row, Mr. McCulloch earned the prestigious title of MVP of the AUS track and field championships and will head into the CIS championships this weekend ranked second in the pentathlon and fourth in the high jump. The native of Glammis, Ont. is studying science at Dalhousie.

David Sharpe, Swimming

Second-year Tigers swimmer David Sharpe led his team last weekend at the 2011 CIS swimming championships in Calgary, Alberta. Sharpe earned a gold medal in the 50 metre backstroke with a time of 24.99 and just missed a medal in the 100 metre backstroke with a fourth place finish. A physics student at Dalhousie, Mr. Sharpe is a native of Halifax, N.S.

Ashley Ryer, Track and Field

At the Subway AUS track and field championships last weekend Ashley Ryer helped spur the Tigers to their 22nd consecutive AUS title. Ms. Ryer captured first place finishes in the 1,000 metre (2:56.07) and 1,500 metre (4:39.12). Ryer currently ranked eighth in the country in the 1,500 metre. A fourth-year health administration major, Ms. Ryer is from Seabright, N.S.
