As Dal Reads prepares to welcome Lawrence Hill, author of The Book of Negroes, to campus on Tuesday, Sept. 21, students involved with the initiative would like to spur discussion on the book.
Dal News thought we could convene our own book club with this online discussion. Here are some questions to get the conversation rolling:
- Do you think Lawrence Hill was successful in portraying a woman's perspective?
- Did you feel engaged in the novel? How did you react to the brutality?
- How do you feel about other countries publishing the novel under a different name? In Australia, New Zealand, and the United States the book is titled Someone Knows My Name.
