Do we need a third harbour crossing?

Bridge Commission proposes bridge or tunnel by 2016

- March 28, 2008

On Tuesday, the Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission held a media conference to argue that with population growth and traffic congestion, HRM may need a new harbour connection as early as 2016. Proposed solutions include a $1.1 billion, six-lane bridge or a $1.4 billion, four-lane tunnel under the harbour, both of which would connect Woodside with Halifax's south end.

What's your reaction to the proposal? Is a third harbour connection necessary, or are there other options the city should explore to deal with transportation issues?
